OCTOBER IS PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH!
(We were so excited, we couldn’t wait!!)
Pastor Appreciation Month is a special time to honor our Pastors and Pastoral families for the hard work, sacrificial dedication and multiple blessings they provide.
Why have Pastor Appreciation Month?
The nature of the service provided by Pastors and their families is unique. God has entrusted to them one of the most precious of assignments-the spiritual well-being of His Flock. When a Pastor becomes ineffective, the very souls of his or her parishioners are endangered. Often Pastors and their families feel isolated and burnt out and wonder if what they are doing is making a difference.
But a Pastor that is appreciated by his congregation is a Pastor that can press forward confidently knowing that his people are with him. A loved Pastor, or better yet, a Pastor who knows he is loved, is constantly encouraged, filled with excitement, optimism and courage. A Pastor that is appreciated knows that he is not carrying the burdens of ministry alone.
Take the time this month to show Pastor David and Pastor Dave how much you appreciate all of their gifts to our church. A simple card or note, baked items, extra hug on Sunday or small treat are just examples of ways to express our gratitude for their tireless efforts on our behalf. If you don’t get around to it this month, do it next month! It is important to remember that appreciation, affirmation and prayer support of our Pastors is appropriate and needed throughout the entire year.
I Thessalonians 5: 12-13: “And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love.” (The Message)
